We have started to run our daily mile! We are a week in and we are doing fabulously. We are improving our running each day and our timings are getting better. What a fantastic way to improve our physical, social, emotional development and our health and wellbeing

What a fantastic way to end the first week back. The children really enjoyed the sports day and it was great to see parents supporting their children in the 'Daily Mile'. This is something that the children (and all the staff!) are doing every day and involves doing 4 laps of the school playground.
We have been learning all about worms. We know that worms live in soil. We have made some soil shakes to show the layers that the worms live in. Can you tell your grown ups at home a fact about worms?

We have tried the rhubarb grown at the allotment. Some of us loved it but others thought it was too sour.

We have really enjoyed baking and decorating flower pops this week.

We went to visit Pam and Graham at the local allotment. They taug us lots of different things about growing which like to our new topic 'grow it, cook it, eat it, it's alive'. We were even able to plant our own potatoes. I wonder if you can tell your grown up at home what helps potatoes to grow?
Finally Year 1 made it to Castle hill. We had a long,tiring walk there but we still had lots of energy to run around flying our kites and looking at Victoria tower and all the features of Castle Hill. After that we had another long walk back down,stopping off for lunch before we walked back to school.
On Monday we had a whole school assembly by the NSPCC. We were told how to keep safe and to tell a grown up if we are worried about anything.
Happy Shrove Tuesday! We had lots of fun making our own pancakes with a choice of different toppings!

15/1/18 This week Badgers and Hedgehogs have been making pizza linked to our Art topic. We had to make our toppings look dotty or striped in the style of artist Bridget Riley. We had lots of fun and they tasted delicious.
5/12/17 Today Fizzkids are working in groups researching all about the planets in our solar system and making mind maps to show all the amazing facts we have learnt. Why don't you ask us what we know?

16/10/17 We impressed our teachers and grown ups by sharing everything we have learnt this half term during our class assembly. If you couldn't make why don't you ask us what we know about our local area and Buddhism.
Tennis time, we have been practising tennis soldiers, throwing/bouncing and catching and making tennis sandwiches/burgers
We are learning all about Buddhism. We have learnt the story of Prince Siddhartha who becomes a teacher to others. We know that the lotus flower is a special flower for Buddhists during their celebration of Wesak. We have been busy baking Lotus flower buns to celebrate.
